Meet the Orbit Ambassadors

Let us introduce you to our new cohort of Orbit Ambassadors!

As 2024 marks Orbit’s 50th anniversary our ambassadors have been asked to pick and showcase one Orbit title to celebrate Orbit’s legacy and we are looking to the future, spotlighting our 2024 New Voices. Follow them (and us!) and get ready to add *a few* books to your TBR!

Hello! My name is Anvita and I love to read and talk about books. I was first introduced to the wonderful world of books at a book fair in middle school where I picked up a fantasy series and ended up binge-reading the trilogy in three days! My love for books was reignited in 2020 and I started my bookstagram and booktube account @anvitascorner to be a part of the book community and find more book recommendations. I’ve always loved the SFF genre because it requires unlimited imagination and it gives us a peek into worlds unlike the one we currently live in. One of my favorite books of 2023 was Vaishnavi Patel’s Kaikeyi, which was an amazing feminist prequel to the Hindu epic Ramayana. I really loved the unique magic system in the book. I’m so excited to discover new favourite fantasy books this year and delve deeper into the science fiction genre as an Orbit ambassador.

Hi I’m Charlie, also known as CosyCoffeeReader! I’m an avid reader with a huge passion for fantasy, I particularly love books that can transport me to a new world full of magic and wonder. Orbit have produced some of my absolute favourite reads, including One Dark Window by Rachel Gillig, A Dowry of Blood by S.T. Gibson and The Honey Witch by Sydney J. Shields.

I’ve always been an avid reader from a young age, but after I read one of my first sci-fi novels 2001: A Space Odyssey by Arthur C. Clarke, my reading has always centred around science fiction, fantasy, and the horror genres. When I’m not working as a pub manager and reading or posting on my Bookstagram page, I am a partner to my fiancé and Father to our two amazing children. I can’t wait to join Orbit as an ambassador and I’m excited to be a part of the team.

Hi my name is Dan! A Bookseller who loves diving between historical fiction, and sumptuous fantasy! A great title that made me fall in love with such gems is Ithaca by Clare North. A heady mix of thrilling Greek mythology and gorgeous storytelling!

Hi, I’m Michaela! I’ve been reading since I was a young girl, mostly to satisfy my introvert tendencies, but through my love of reading I’ve become more confident and able to pinpoint what is important to me both in my personal life and politically. This is why I love science fiction and fantasy — for its ability to allow you to escape reality but stay grounded in real life issues through incredible diverse characters, intriguing plot points, and wonderful world building. I particularly love Jade City and The Fifth Season.

Hi I’m Oyinda, avid book reader, bookstagmmer, and booktokker. I love to read and I love the escapism that books provide. My favourite genres are thrillers and SFF. As someone who reads for the benefit of escaping reality, SFF offers that in such high doses. It’s such a delight to take a trip into the amazing world crafted by SFF authors and learn about new ways of life, distant and not-so-distant futures, intricate magic systems, and sometimes politics that govern these worlds. Some of my favourite Orbit books include The Green Bone Saga series by Fonda Lee which I have read three times, and The Broken Earth series by N K Jemisin. These women did such amazing jobs of giving me fantastical worlds with so many amazing characters that I love with all my heart.

Hi I’m Rutvik! I was raised on the internet and that’s where I share all the things I love through my vlogs and bookish videos. I love to read across a range of genres from mysteries to contemporary fiction. But as good as Literary Fiction is, Fantasy and Science Fiction always feels like home to me. Because there’s nothing better to escape from an often chaotic world than getting lost in a fantasy book. I love Orbit Books because they’re my one-stop shop for all my SFF needs – from Greek Mythology Retellings to High Fantasy with even higher stakes.

Hello, my name is Steph and I’m an avid reader. I thoroughly enjoy Sci-Fi and Fantasy; I love the whole adventure and escaping to fascinating new worlds filled with intriguing and magical characters. Some Orbit titles I’ve read and loved are The Honey Witch, An Education in Malice and Trial of the Sun Queen. If you’re new to SFF – there is definitely something for everyone!

Hi I’m Steph also known as Bookslovereaders! I am a massive fan of all genres but I am always drawn to fantasy and romance books. One of the reasons I love fantasy books is I am transported into brand new worlds and meeting amazing characters. Several of my all time favourites have been from Orbit including a Dowry of Blood and The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy.

I’ve always been a reader on and off, but it was only after lockdown and having my daughter that I became absolutely mad about books, as they provided an escape from the day to day. It was actually an Orbit title that first got me into SFF – The Eye of the World by Robert Jordan was the first fantasy title I ever picked up, and I became obsessed, reading every single book in the series one after the other. Now I’m a fully fledged member of the SFF club as I love the world building and total escapism it provides!
